Hope For The Girl’s

During a visit to Zambia six years ago, Marion Tasker, a member of NPAC and Inner Wheel Club, learnt that young girls in villages around Mfuwe could not attend school during their monthly periods because they did not have any protection. Consequently, these young girls ended up falling behind, performing badly and deserting school out of frustration and many would get married off because of poverty.

Marion has also setup training workshops in schools, where teachers, school girls and also the boys are taught to make the re-useable sanitary pads for themselves. The pad project, now called the NPAC “Washable Sanitary Pad Project” (WaSPP) has recently been expanded with a permanent sewing workshop setup in Lusaka.
